Changing Environment Helps In Losing Weight

Researchers say, dieters who will concentrate on changing or modifying their surroundings find it effortless to maintain their diet.

A study conducted by a team of Cornell University researchers stated that people who will focus on changing their surroundings can adhere to their diet plan and also can lose more weight. The researchers, who are guided by Brian Wansink, Director of the Cornell Food and Brand Lab, presented their conclusions (discoveries) at Experimental Biology conference in Anaheim, Calif.

The study was conducted covering 200 participants from the National Mindless Eating Challenge (prototype of the MindlessMethod.com) who were provided with diet tips from three categories like changing environment, changing eating behavior, and changing food choices.

The lead author of the study, Brian Wansink, who also was the author of Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think, said that, dieters given with conventional environmental tips like using a 10 inch plate, readjusting the cupboards, and changing the candy plate, will adhere to their diets in general for two more days per month.

During the three month study, persons taking part in the program reportedly dissipated one to two pounds per month per tip. It was recognized that after following a particular tip for at minimum of 20 days in a month, changes occurred.

When environmental variations are considered, the researchers suggested that people must use smaller meal plates, switch off television, computers and cell phones when taking a meal and keep high calorie foods unseen and unreachable. These simple changes can provide many differences and are effortless to follow also, instead of changing eating habits or substituting foods with other healthier option (fruit for sweets, or abandon chocolate and French fries).

Maintaining a specific diet in a weight loss program is not simple than said, but following simple ways will make a difference.
