With an objective to spread awareness among public about fake rupee notes, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has set up a web portal explaining ways to detect counterfeit notes. The website www.paisaboltahai.rbi.org.in graphically demonstrates and describes the security features with pointers on rupee notes of denominations – 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000.

This interactive website calls for the public to know about the genuine currency notes with a tagline ‘Pehchano Paise Ki Boli, Kyunki Paisa Bolta Hai’. The website link is available on RBI’s main website as well.

Consumers have the option to download the visual presentation posters with all security features for identifying counterfeit notes. There is also an option to download the documentary film on rupee notes. The website gives details of the number of fake currency notes detected.
