Good news for Employee Provident Fund (EPF) subscribers! Now, EPF holders can check their monthly balance in PF accounts through online. Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) launched e-passbook for over 50 million subscribers of the retirement fund body. EPF account holders can obtain e-passbook along with details of their updated accounts online.

According to Central Provident Fund Commissioner, EPFO subscribers can get their statement of accounts online from Wednesday, July 25, 2012. In order to get this facility, the active subscribers have to register themselves on the EPFO website by furnishing their EPF account details. Moreover, this facility is not applicable to those members whose accounts are inoperative, settled or have negative balance.

Additional information like name, date of birth and account number is available in e-passbook. Also, EPF subscribers can avail the facility of online settlement of provident fund claims in a couple of months. For now, the subscribers who are either superannuated or applied for withdrawals have the facility of applying only through manually.

The Central Provident Fund Commissioner said that, in order to provide the facility of online application of claims, EPFO would require central database. Therefore, opting for online claim settlement will save time and improve efficiency.
