66% Internet Users Change Mind About Financial Products: Survey

According to a survey by Google India, a majority of Internet users change their mind about products and brands after online research for financial services. The survey report shows that, two-third of the Internet users use online source when researching for financial products.

The report further shows that while doing online research, 66% of the Internet users change their mind about the product and brand, and the final purchase is made offline. The research says that 24% users buy online, 70% apply online and 38% buy offline influenced by online.

According Google India, financial services can create significant value addition using digital media and serve the needs of digitally savvy customers. India has over 137 million Internet users and of those more than 99 million urban Indian users with high disposable income are active on the Internet.

The report further says that, finance related queries are growing at over 43% year-on-year on Google and banking related queries at 73%. It says, 1 out of 10 finance related queries comes from mobiles in India.

The report also reveals the most searched banking and insurance brands during a period of time. From April 2011 to March 2012, the most searched banks were – HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, ICICI bank, IDBI Bank and Union Bank. And the top most insurance brands were LIC, ICICI Prudential, Birla Sun Life, Bajaj Allianz and HDFC Life.
