  • This is the first ever in the Indian history, that the gold coins are made with National Emblem of Ashok Chakra inscribed on one side and the face of national leader, Mahatma Gandhi on the opposite side. So far we have seen many coins with Indian gods engraved on them but not the national symbol.
  • All the gold coins carry advanced anti-counterfeit features in order to prevent the creation of fake models.
  • It comes with strong proof packaging so that tampering of coins can be avoided.
  • Ashoka coins are available in 24 carats i.e 999 or 99.9% fineness which is the highest level of purity in the gold bullion market.

Coins availability:

  • Five and ten grams are the normal weight denominations for coins whereas 20 grams is available only as a bar/bullion.
  • As a part of initial launch, 15000 coins of 5gm, 20000 coins of 10 gm and 3750 Gold bullions of 20 grams are made available through 125 MMTC outlets.
  • All coins carry hallmark label as per BIS standards and get distributed only though the designated MMTC outlets.
