The best approach is to round them up to the nearest tens and then adding – 644 becomes 650 and 238 becomes 240.
650 + 240 = 890
Then, find the original problem to determine how much you added to round up.
6 and 2 so, the total is 8.
Now, subtract this difference from the round up total – 890 – 8 = 882.
The total of 644 and 238 is 882.

Subtracting from 1000: Numbers that are larger than 1000 are tricky to solve. Here is a simple method to subtract three-digit numbers from 1000.

You must subtract every digit from nine except the number at units/one’s place value. For example: 1000 – 558 =?
Subtract 9-5 = 4
Again, 9-5 = 4
Now, 10-8 = 2
The answer to 1000 – 558 = 442

Multiplication with 5: 5 is one of the best numbers as it makes all the problem-solving very easy. When you are multiplying any given number by 5, there are two ways to move forward – even numbers are different and odd numbers it is different.
