Eat Apples, Beans, Peas and Make Your Belly Fat Free: Report
Belly fat which is also called as abdominal obesity is a major problem to many people. Particularly for those, whose job involves sitting all the time, due to the lack of physical activity fat will get easily accumulated around their tummies. The researchers from the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center found an interesting solution for this problem.
According to the research published in the online issue of the journal ‘Obesity’, consuming two small apples, one cup of green peas, and half a cup of pinto beans and a vigorous exercise of 30 minutes, two to four times a week can help reduce the fat around the tummy area. Vegetables, fruits and beans contain soluble fiber which helps to reduce visceral fat or belly fat around the midsection.
The research was conducted on a group of around 1,114 African Americans and Hispanic Americans. The researchers examined the life styles factors such as diet and frequency of exercise, which were associated with the five year change in abdominal fat of all the participants.
At the beginning of the study the participants were given a physical exam, an extensive questionnaire on lifestyle issues, and a CT scan. The same set of things were done after five years.
From this study they found that for 10 gram increase in soluble fiber per day reduces the belly fat by 3.7 percent over the five years. At the same time increased moderate work out resulted in the reduction of visceral fat by 7.5 percent, accumulated over the same period. This shows that the increased soluble fiber intake was associated with the decreased rate of accumulated visceral fat, but not the subcutaneous fat.
The experts also warned that the higher rate of belly fat results in high blood pressure, diabetes and fatty liver diseases. However, there is mounting evidence that eating more soluble fiber and increasing exercise reduces belly fat. So, it is better to follow them to have a healthy and fat free belly.
