Just Dial *99# From Your Mobile to Access Your Bank Account

Now, banking services like checking bank balances, placing a request for a cheque book, fund transfers etc. have been made simple and hassle-free. You just need to dial *99# from your mobile of any handset to access your bank account.

The decision on mobile banking was rolled out by the Finance Minister at the National Banking Conference in Pune. It is being facilitated by National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI). According to the Managing Director of NPCI, currently there is a requirement of smartphone to download such application, which a common mobile user cannot afford. So, the decision of providing application even on a simple handset has been taken to reach out a larger section of people.

The Managing Director of NPCI says, currently two telecoms service providers BSNL and MTNL are providing this service across 23 banks. There are 14 mobile operators need to start the project, that takes some time for execution. On the service charge, Rs 25 paise is being paid by NPCI to the telecoms.
